Young Israel of Sharon Pesach Packet - 5775

Here is your Young Israel Pesach Packet to help you in your Pesach preparations. Please find attached: 1) an Authorization Document for the sale of Hametz; 2) a schedule of times and events for Pesach,

SALE OF HAMETZ: Print out this Authorization document, fill it out in as much detail as possible, and please make sure to meet personally with me by Sunday morning, April 1st at the latest, to arrange the sale of your Hametz to a non-Jew. Please do NOT send the document to me or to the Shul by email – it is best to see me personally to make a formal kinyan, a formal act of confirmation on the agreement. All food products and medications consisting of, or containing Hametz can be sold. Extra documents are available at the Shul.

SHIURIM: All Shabbat classes from now through Pesach will be dedicated to the laws of Pesach, including the following special session:

Sunday Morning, April 22, 9:30 -10:00 a.m.  - PESACH WORKSHOP: I will review practical preparation for Pesach, with a discussion of Pesach products and medications. Bring your practical questions.

MAOT HITTIN: Part of our Pesach preparation is making sure that those in financial need receive assistance in their own preparations. Our focus this year is on a Tzedaka Fund in Israel that does extraordinary work helping the poor throughout Erez Yisrael: Yad Ezrah. I have seen Yad Ezrah and the work it does first hand and I am very impressed. Checks made out to Yad Ezrah can be given to Rabbi Sendor. 100% of your donation goes to genuinely needy people. I am also accepting donations payable to the Young Israel of Sharon Tzedaka Fund for Tzedaka to those who are needy in Sharon and the Greater Boston area. All donations go entirely to help needy families and individuals buy what they need for Pesach. Please make your donations early so they can be disbursed well before Pesach, to provide real assistance to those in need. It would be helpful if you could give your donation by March 17 so that the families affected can receive funds in a timely way.

QUESTIONS: If you have any questions about Pesach preparations or products, please call Rabbi Sendor, (781)784-5391 or email at meir@sendor.org .  The excellent website Kashrut.com, run by Arlene Mathes-Scharf, provides easy-to-access and up-to-date Pesach product information from the most reliable kashrut agencies. Some books in English that can assist you in Pesach preparations and the Seder include R. Avrohom Blumenkrantz' z”l The Laws of Pesach: a Digest, (including an extensive list of current food products and medications that are kosher for Pesach); R. Shimon Eider's z”l Summary of Halakhos of Pesach; 2011 Passover Directory: Star-K Comprehensive Information and Product Guide. These are available at the Israel Book Shop.

When the Vaad HaRabonim of Massachusetts, the KVH, publishes its Pesach Products list, we will send it out immediately.

On behalf of Anne, our family and myself, we wish you and your families a Hag Kasher ve-Sameach, a kosher and a happy Pesach.

-Rabbi Meir Sendor
